Tools › Chmod permissions › chmod 750

chmod 750 explained (rwxr-x---)

chmod 750 sets the permissions to rwxr-x---.

chmod 750 filename
chmod -R 750 directory/

When to use it

Directories and programs only the owner and one trusted group should use.

Security note

Other users cannot even list the directory, which is often what you want for service data.

Tip: applying it to files and directories separately

Directories need the execute bit to be entered, files usually do not. Set them separately: find dir -type d -exec chmod 755 {} + and find dir -type f -exec chmod 644 {} +.
