How it works
Words are counted as runs of non-space characters. Sentences are counted by terminal punctuation (. ! ?), and paragraphs by blank-line separated blocks. Reading time assumes 200 words per minute for silent reading and speaking time assumes 130 words per minute.

Any sequence of characters separated by whitespace counts as one word.
What is a good length for a blog post?
Most search-optimised articles run between 1,000 and 2,000 words, but quality matters more than length.
